Questions & Answers

What was the simplest romantic gesture you’ve ever received?

Um…my husband never does simple, romantic gestures. One year, he turned our home into a B&B. My favorite Valentine’s Day included homemade chocolate and cheese fondues. His little gestures are random love notes all over the house and managing my website and formatting my books. But one time, he said, “Your mind is so beautiful!” And I just melted.

What was the hardest scene you’ve ever written?

It was a rape scene that was a necessary evil for one of my characters to truly grow. But I had to research the mind of a serial rapist and read a lot of survivor rape poetry.

Who’s your favorite character? Why?

Reina Caraway in my Roseblood Series, a paranormal romance about one human girl living among vampires and werewolves since birth, destined to be their Queen.

I love Reina because she is a human creator. With the blood of both vampires and werewolves, she’s pretty much the full package with the ability to create any power she desires from lightning to telekinesis. She also has vampire wings and can transform into a wolf. Her heart, flesh, and blood are all still human, but she is also immortal and has the power of regeneration. She grows stronger and endures dark trials: is empowering, headstrong, lethal, just, and loyal.

Tease me with the sexiest quote from one of your books.

“Be my Queen forever. Only I can awaken your soul.” He seized me by the shoulders, tugged at the fabric of my nightgown to expose my collarbone. “And love you beyond eternity.” – Silhouette

If you could, how would you help the Indie Writers Community?

Love networking with other authors and helping to promote them in any way I can whether on my social media pages, reviews, or my newsletter. Wish I could do more, but I’m still a beginner and don’t have a large following.

Why did you choose your genre?

I write multi-genre, but my base is anti-trafficking dystopia: The Uncaged Series. I visited Germany 12 years ago and learned about the Red-Light District. Ever since, I’ve had a passion for raising awareness to sexual violence. Today, I am a trained awareness speaker and an activist, and working toward a degree in advocacy work. I write empowering female protagonists who are not afraid to smash the patriarchy and chase after the good guys and are human enough to fall for the rogues.

What was the first romance novel you read?

Does Twilight count?

Name one song that always makes your writing playlist.

Love the Way You Lie – Rhianna and Eminem or anything from The Phantom of the Opera.
